Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck):

Abdominoplasty surgery will improve abdominal contour, and remove excess and sagging skin; in addition weakened muscles can be tightened. A patient’s figure, lost following childbirth or major weight loss, can be markedly improved. There are modified tummy tuck procedures that will improve abdominal contour and are often combined with liposuction for patients who do not require a full abdominoplasty. Some abdominoplasty surgeries will be covered by insurance for patients with symptoms from a large redundant abdominal panniculus, usually occurring after significant weight loss. Dr. Silberman will give you a complete evaluation with an office consultation. For more information on abdominoplasty surgery, you can go to the American Society of Plastic Surgery.

50 year old female seven months status post fleur-de-lis abdominoplasty (excisions both horizontal and vertical). The scars will continue to fade and blend. The patient is 5'6" and went from 280 lbs to 210 lbs after bariatric surgery, which included a vertical incision in the upper mid abdomen due to a complication of the bariatric surgery. To better contour the abdomen, and since a vertical scar was already present, the patient was willing to undergo a fleur-de-lis excision. The patient had 4,366 grams of tissue removed (9.6 lbs).
