| Otoplasty
Prominent
ears can be sculpted by an otoplasty procedure. For children this
surgery is sometimes covered by insurance. The surgery uses sutures
and cartilage scoring to better contour the ear at the anti-helix
and concha. Ears that contour normally allow a patient the freedom
of any hairstyle without the need to cover the ears. The surgery
should alleviate potential embarrassment that a child might face
from his or her peers. Dr. Silberman can evaluate you with an office
consultation. For more information you can go to the American Society
of Plastic Surgery.
